This Yin yoga class works with poses that give you a positive physiological shift in your feeling state and energy. The meditation at the beginning sets an important tone and focus for this class to bring some magic! Some of the poses practiced include Swan pose, Frog pose and Dragon pose.

Hey Esther, I love the toe strech on the beginning of the class. I would love to teach the pose in my next yogaclass. I do wonder if there are any contra-indications for this pose? Could you shed any light on that?

Hi Simone, Any foot / toe injuries/ surgery/ immobility of course be careful, it should not hurt when any of that is present. Besides that it should be ok, give people the option to place the hands down in front of them on the floor if it feels too strong.

Thank you so much for this practice, Esther. I've been experiencing some plantar fasciitis lately, and the lower body work seems to be just what I needed. Holding the postures for 2-3 minutes gave me the opportunity to see exactly where the tightness was, to see how it's all connected, and to gently work with it. I believe that if I return to this (strong!) practice several more times in the coming weeks, I'll be done with the plantar problems!! Yay Yin Yoga!! With love and gratitude, Trisha

So many years, so many yin yoga classes.... Today, this class summed it all up for me. Some times every thing seem to fall into place and make perfect sense. I have heard it all before, experienced it all before and yet, today, it hit home in a different way. It was not a theory any more, not something I felt physically and understood intellectually. I had what I would call an integrated perception and experience of it all. (Finally, you might say :-D) And I thought to myself that if I only did one smart decision in my life, it was the one to stick with yoga, even if I felt that the teachers at times spoke gibberish and mumbo jumbo :-D Therefore, I hope and I wish for anyone who gives it try that they try again, and again, and again, if necessary, because this IS the gift that keeps on giving, even if perhaps we dont see the gift at first attempt.

Some of these poses provided mental stimulation. It’s like I needed to work through the discomfort in order to re-train my brain. Thank you for the opportunity to do so.

Thank you Esther. I have been struggling with my gut and sickness and as you know, depression and anxiety. I have found many mindfulness meditations very stressful and despite what they are saying I have felt there really is an underlying agenda to change me. I loved your mediation and the whole mantra throughout and I felt it was totally authentic; your words, "just leave it", you really are accepting and you genuinely mean for us to accept. Then academical change does happen, but you can never fool yourself as a student or fool others as a teacher that you don't want change when really your subconscious still is driving to that goal. So thank you for a wonderfully healing class because of your authenticity, which I always respond to not in your words but in the tone of your voice which is genuine.

Thank you Esther, particularly for your comments about bone structure during the twist! My knees seem to be metres from the floor in the these twists, but for the first time I accepted that and concentrated more on keeping my shoulders down. It made a real difference to how I felt the twist.
