This Yin yoga sequence helps to prepare your body to sit in meditation for a longer period of time. We approach every 2-3 minute-held pose as a mini-meditation, keeping a light, relaxed focus on the breath. We also allow space for everything else that comes up, like how we feel, thoughts, aches, sensations, etc. Physically we work on opening the hips, shoulders and upper body so we can sit in meditation with more ease.

The most meditative zone I personally can get into is in the flow of a more yang practice so this practice was very welcome for me to prepare for a more static meditation - so will return to it frequently thanks

Thanks for this lovely session, Esther! I still struggle to find a comfortable meditation posture, especially with a slightly sore lower back. But this practice helped to get me on the way, so thank you!

Do you need to warm up before this practice? Could I do this practice immediately after waking up without warming up before? If I do need to warm up, which video would you recommend to warm up a stiff body slowly and easily?
Esther23.11.2018
probably not Priya, just dont push yourself at all, if your body asks for it, some gentle cat cows and rolling of the joints will do the trick.

I fell on some ice/snow a couple weeks ago, with my hip and shoulder taking the brunt of it. This class was just what I needed to help soothe and heal all that tension I've been feeling. Thanks Esther. I love doing yin yoga with you

Wonderful practice Esther - and I stayed longer in the frog pose - it brought me into a deeper sense of rest that was powerful... Thank you for the introduction to the frog pose as a yin, restful pose. And your meditation was spot on. The idea of life as love and that this love doesn't judge us ... and to be accepted fully as we are... (and to accept others as they are) - I will certainly hold close to these truths, that will help to serve my joy, during the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday. Sending my love from across the Atlantic!

Remarkable how much better my seated posture felt after this class... thank you as always for your incredibly kind, gentle and yet powerful approach. For some reason my face gets very hot during yin classes... I guess this is probably to do with shifts in energy? It's not unpleasant! just interesting... any insights into why would be appreciated! Thanks again for a beautiful class xxx

Hi Gemma, probably exactly what you are saying yourself. This is so very personal, that I don't really have an an answer for you. My guess is something is working its way through and its best to leave it alone, leave it be, so it can do its thing. You may get an insight while leaving it alone (as long as that is not your goal :-))
