Mellow Yin great for after strong arm balances and core strengthening. In this short Yin session you will release tensions in your shoulders, chest, abdomen and spine. The class is not only for those who have just done a strong core strengthening and arm balancing sequence, but also if your shoulders and chest could use some extra opening.

Jose`, this was amazing!!!!!!!!!!. The stretches felt soooooo good. One ? is there another pose to do instead of the saddle one? I can kneel with my legs back on the side of my thighs, but unable to lie back on the bolster. so is it ok to go back as far as you can w/arms straight on the floor next to you? Thanks for your great classes AUMS
José22.10.2015
Dear Lolita, Sorry for the late reply. Is it difficult for you to lie back on the bolster due to the strong stretch you experience in your quadriceps and/or hipflexors or because you have a sharp stinging sensation in your lower back? If it is the first situation, then use as many bolsters to prop yourself up higher to diminish the intense stretch in your quads/hipflexors. If it is the second situation, try playing with the leg position of the straight leg. Let it fall out to the side, that can helpt to diminish the compression in your back. Or do the pose against the wall. Kneeling down and one leg propped up against the wall. I hope this is of any help. Namaste José

I love the moment(s) when I access to Ekhart Yoga in search for a treat of a specific area and find it right on top of the video list :) This class just came in on time - I enjoyed it very much. A huge "Thank you" from my shoulders Jose!

This was a great session after a particularly intense gym workout yesterday. You're right when you say that short practices can also be intense! I found that counting my breath helped me keep focus during those moments in my practice today. I found that the shoulder stretch where we placed the top of our hand on the rib cage was too intense for my wrists - could you suggest a modification? If not, I can always play that particular stretch by ear and see if my wrists agree with it on a particular day. Thanks so much for this class!
José20.09.2015
Dear Laura, try bending the wrist in the same way by pushing it down with your other hand. I hope it helps.

I do love yin, it seems like such a loving thing to do for yourself – and by including them in your programmes you remind me that's ok :) It's wonderful to have this short yin class as a go-to for busy days, and it was certainly a real pleasure to start my Monday with it today. Thank you, José!

Interesting...I actually found this practice 'harder' than the previous difficult arm balances session. But I know why. I was trying to work out the edge of where I could still be active in the posture vs no stretch or pressure. I think I was too far on the active side to be able to let go and breathe. So next time I will use the variations you suggested and more props to allow myself to really enjoy the release I know that yin can provide. It's all about listening to your own body instead of trying to impose what I think it should be able to do! Still learning, session by session. Thanks Jose.

Hi, thank you for the lovely and relaxing class! I'm thinking on doing the Yin Yoga 50 hours course with you :) One quick question for you. When I do this pose: https://www.ekhartyoga.com/resources/yoga-poses/cow-face-pose (minus the legs) I feel a slight discomfort on the shoulder whose elbow is facing down.. I feel as if the shoulder comes out of my body... is it really wrong? I don't feel much on the other side.. Thank you for your attention.
José02.06.2020
Sorry for the late reply Veronica. In cow face arms pose, you should not feel it in the joint area especially not popping out. It looks to me that your internal rotation of the humerus of the lower arms is not enough. (Its a guess but I would actually have to see you) so what you can do is abduct the arm and use a belt.See if that helps. You can also do this pose lying down on a bolster. Gravity can help you feel something in the upper arm in the triceps or armpit. Let me know if this works out for you.
