I've done this class 5-6 times and it helps with my asymmetric pelvic rotation. If you are looking for targeted ideas still, I'd love your take on pelvic AP tilt/sway back. I use your Easy Shoulders and Hips class to help with this, as well as Sandra Carson's bazillion psoas classes. I like seeing your multifaceted approaches to untangle some of our sticking points. Thanks for all you do!
Nicki08.08.2025
Amazing... I did PT for a long time for SI issues and recognize some of these movements. The PT was helpful and this class is even better ! Thank you Julie
Marian08.08.2025
Very useful! Thanks a lot. I have to do this class more often.
Tess27.06.2025
Thank you Julie, this makes so much sense to me, I've been experiencing discomfort in my left hip/knee/heel for a week or so, and I haven't felt that a stretch would help, and there you are, strength is required! and this has really put me on a new strength before stretch track, which falling into the age bracket you've mentioned, makes perfect sense. Your clear, personable style really helps. Namaste

How fascinating indeed. Julie, I do your tutorials no matter what. I enjoy the way your talk to us tremendously and I simply KNOW that I will always learn something. What really flashes me though is the fact that it is so opposed to what my way of comfort what look like. A little rolling, a good long yin stretch… - and here you have me using my glutes. There is some kind of weird belief that glute work increases my back pain, however, this class was the complete opposite. I got up from the mat and felt a lightness I haven’t felt for quite a while. I reckon it needs a lot to unwire these assumptions of stretching that I have. THANK YOU so much and I will come back to this class a lot.
Teri23.03.2025
Thanks Julie, this is exactly what I needed as a daily start to my day before sitting at my desk! As a new yoga teacher I also enjoy learning exercises for specific muscles. Thank you!
Annemarie08.12.2024
great class, thank you. Hopefully there will be a series with you like you mentioned for over 40 (over 50 here).
Julie08.12.2024
You're so welcome Annemarie! And yes we are working on getting the strength training classes filmed. with gratitude, Julie
Linda08.12.2024
Thanks so much Julie. This is just what I needed. Having reached my seventies, I'm just now realizing how much I focused on stretching, rather than strengthening. Now I'm switching my focus! Never too late, right?
Julie08.12.2024
You are so welcome Linda. We've all spent too much time stretching! LOL! keep repeating these exercises to help get that strength - it's never too late!
Catrine05.12.2024
Thank you Julie for this class, I have a lower back pain and some ache in my left leg since a couple’s of months. I have tendency to over stretch a lot, so this was really useful for me to hear. I will make those exercises until I feel better and start to stretch later on. Thank you 🙏🏻
Julie05.12.2024
Great news Catrine! Glad you got benefit from the class. X Julie
Kerstin23.12.2024
Wow - this class addressed my exact problem and I am grateful to now be able to heal myself and get rid of the pain! After you have explained it, it is so obvious what to do. Thank you so much, Julie! Looking forward to the strengthening classes you mentioned.
Julie27.12.2024
Great to hear that this all made sense to you Kerstin and now you feel you've got the tools you need to take care of your SI joint! With gratitude, Julie
Liane09.12.2024
This class taught me a lot and was very helpful and inspiring. Thank you so much for this so perfectly explained class, dear Julie. I had an injury in my lower back, am in my mid fifties and feel a lot of change within my body. Focusing on strengthening in order to protect this vulnerable area will be practiced by me now in little steps. With gratitude and appreciation, Liane 🙏❤️
Julie10.12.2024
So happy to hear this Liane. Once we're perimenopause and beyond we need to establish strength training as our priority. I often remind long-term yoga practitioners that we've probably stretched enough (too much?) and when we lose collagen in the connective tissue, it doesn't spring back efficiently anymore. Range of motion and mobility work combined with strength work is the key. A little stretching here and there won't hurt though! X Julie
Donna05.12.2024
Fantastic!! I have a constant tightness in my piriformis and boy does it radiate. Even PT had me do lots of stretching :( I will repeat this and look forward to your strengthening classes!!!
Julie05.12.2024
Excellent Donna! Sadly even many PT's haven't worked with the newer understandings of piriformis syndrome and lack of strength in the glutes being the biggest contributor. So glad you found this class! X Julie
laura07.12.2024
nice one, thanks Julie, I would like to understand more about Psoas as well, would love to hear from you
laura13.12.2024
Grand, thank you Julie
Julie08.12.2024
You're welcome Laura. I'll get a tutorial on the Psoas filmed soon too. It's another misunderstood muscle and the ones around it too. with gratitude, Julie
kathleen04.12.2024
Julie this is amazing! My back pain totally eased and my left hip flexor which has been so tight relaxed! I am very flexible by nature and I realized my ham strings are weak and overstretched. I feel like I have a new understanding. Thank you!! It helps so much to have and understanding of the way the muscles work.
Julie05.12.2024
I'm so happy to hear this Kathleen! You're not the only one with weak overstretched hamstrings! It's so common in the yoga world which is why I started to do the research! So glad it has helped you. X Julie
Susanne22.02.2025
Thank you, very useful. Is sequence importen?
Julie24.02.2025
Hello Susanne. I'm happy you found this class useful. The actual sequence that you do the exercises in is up to you. And you don't have to do all of them either. Which ones really work for you are the ones to focus on. With gratitude, Julie
Irina13.12.2024
Thank you for a fab little workout - and although I'm stiff as a board and my risk of overstretching is pretty low, my SI always needs care and says thank you too.
Julie13.12.2024
Glad your SI joint is happy now! x Julie

Loved this class Julie, thank you so much, and also looking forward to your strength training. I would like to learn how to do that, but I have no clue when it comes to strength and weights. Have a lovely day too.

Bravo Julia, I am a yoga therapist and work in pain therapy. What I always emphasize is to build up the muscles and not just stretch. These exercises are wonderful and I will include them directly in my classes. Thank you X

Nancy17.12.2024
Sorry! Julie! (not Irina!) That's how eager I was to acknowledge the class, that I got yr name wrong. It won't happen again. . . . I'll be looking for your other classes :)
Julie18.12.2024
LOL!
Nancy17.12.2024
Thank YOU Irina! I have been away from yoga for a long while due to illness followed by weakness and lost strength. Of course, my sciatica was beginning to talk to me as was my lower back. Just from these few minutes following you online, I feel less pain and more 'breathing space' when I got off the mat. Many thanks for sharing your wisdom and these techniques. Very much appreciated.
Julie18.12.2024
You're so welcome Nancy! Sorry to hear you've been unwell but I love that you're already in less pain after this session. Keep up the good work! With gratitude, Julie

Laia08.12.2024
Oh my gosh, Julie, this works wonders! Better than physio. I’ve had this type of pain since the summer, and it goes away with this class and your other class on the IT band (I cycle every day.) Big thanks, also for your fun approach.
Julie08.12.2024
Excellent news Laia! So glad it's working (and you have fun with the class too!) X Julie
Angelica05.12.2024
This was wonderful Julie! Thanks a lot. My left SI Joint have been bothering me for a while. I'll continue to do this strengthening exercices. Do you think it is ok to do stretching asanas in a more mindful way and to a lower extent? or should I avoid them at all costs? Looking forward to your next classes. Namaste
Angelica09.12.2024
Thank you so much for your answer. xx
Julie08.12.2024
Hi Angelica! I'm glad you enjoyed the class. It's best to stay away from stretches like pigeon, folding forward or deep side bends for a while. Wait until you get more strength in the area before you go back to stretches. And when you do try not to go deep. You can continue to do stretches for the rest of the body though. However, be mindful of the hamstrings as they are also part of the stabilisers for the back of the body. x Julie
Jacqueline28.12.2024
Great class, Julie! Nice to do familiar movements with emphasis on glutes and hamstrings...and to feel engagement of these muscles without going immediately into stretching them. My SI joints feel happy and looked after, thank you!
Julie29.12.2024
So happy to hear you're feeling better in your SI joints now! It's all super useful work to remember as you do other asana classes too! With gratitude, Julie
Sue12.03.2025
