The Turkish getup is an effective total body strength and mobility exercise. We warm up with some hip mobility exercises, some lunges and shoulder openers and finally some step throughs. You’ll be guided step by step towards the final sequence – three sets per side of the ‘Get up'. David uses a 5K dumbbell but this class can be done with much lighter weights or no weights at all. Enjoy, Poweryogis!

Davis, This is EXACTLY what I need! I flopped around and couldn't do it with the weights, and I only finished 1/2 of this class. BUT THIS IS WHAT I NEED! I'm 54 and my mobility has declined so much in the recent years. THANK YOU!

I'm not a fan of gyms and weights but I do it because I'm a woman of a certain age and know I have to. This class made weights fun and engaging, almost as much fun as a yoga class. More like this please! Thank you.

Hi Liz, I am not a fan of Gyms either... so these classes do a lot for both of us! I have quite a few "fun" excercisey classes on the platform. If you filter for my name and MIXED MOVEMENT as the style, you will find them. The title usually gives you the kind of class it will be (in some creative way 😇)

I tried with a tennis ball, to learn the movement. Next time I will try with some weight. Would you advise to do it as a smooth continuous flow or is it better to stop after every single movement?

Great idea to start like that. To begin with ... keep it more staccato/stopping after each movement to get the technique. Then... after a few weeks of that... make it fluid.
