James, this practice has become my go to when I need centering and grounding and when I need to soothe my nervous system. It truly is magical. I especially love it before I go to bed, but today I did it after having been in my head for too long and it really calmed all of my being. I have a couple of curiosities regarding the practice. One is, in the mudra where the thumb is on the ring finger mound and the rest of the hand is in a fist, could you tell me what that specific position is doing energetically? And the other is, when we kick out the breath, is it okay to breathe out through the nose and then finish the kick out part through the mouth? I feel when I do it through the mouth I can really get all the air out. Thank you!

Sarah, Glad to hear you've been finding this helpful. The mudra helps to open the lungs but you don't have to take my word for it, you can try it in isolation; sit, breath for 2 minutes with hands open and relaxed and then take another 2 minutes with the Mudra. You should feel the difference. Yes, fine to kick out the breath this way, through moth or nose. Ideally, we use the nose as it's a more refined channel for our exhalations but the mouth let's you get more air out, as you rightly state. Please do experiment, adapt and play with my guidelines :) Hope that helps, warmest James

James you’re an amazing teacher. It’s such a blessing to get to practice with you through Ekhart Yoga. Thank you for continuing to share these ancient practices with us. This one was so effective at bringing me home to myself. I love that it’s only half an hour, that way I can easily fit it into my day. Namasté

Thanks James for a beautiful class. One question - I recently did one of your classes on Ekhart yoga that included cat stretch where you gave instructions like tuck your sacrum, middle back and upper back and reversing with lifting upper back, middle back and sacrum. Or something like that -it was wave like movements of the spine which felt so good. Could you remind me what this class was called. Lots of Oms your way. Thank you.

Annette, It could be so many classes! You could try 'My way to the sun' as a starting point and another pointer is that I taught this technique more in my earlier classes at Ekhart Yoga (the good ol' days?!) - perhaps try some of my earlier offerings and see what you can find...
