Our eyes provide us with the opportunity to view the spectacular world around us. Their function is affected not only by poor lighting quality and excess screen time, but also by the amount of internal tension we hold in our bodies. It is important to remember our eyes when taking care of ourselves; to consciously relax them, exercise them and show them the same care that we show the rest of ourselves in our yoga practice. After being diagnosed with glaucoma, I have realised how important it is to take care of our eyes. I hope you find this class helpful.

Loved it, Tracey. I spend a lot of time in front of the computer and I've doing some exercises for the muscles around the eyes, but I would relly like to know more about the effects of the exercise with the humming. Is there any literature on this? Thank you! ?
Cecy07.02.2018
Thank you, Tracey, will do. I really liked the effect it had.
Tracey06.02.2018
Dear Cecy, the technique is called Bhramari Pranayama. There is a lot of information about it if you do a search. I would recommend doing just a few rounds a day (around 5 or so), as a normal practice to calm the mind and nourish the body with relaxation. It is a very effective pranayama and just small amounts are enough to produce maximum results. :-)

Namasté. The sound of your voice is southening and so peaceful. Do you have another video where you are showing your modifications in the forward fold, childs pose and downward facing dog?
Tracey05.06.2018
Dear Silke, Thank you for your kind comment. I am planning to film another class showing modifications for these inverted poses, but I live in Australia and won't be in the studio again until next year. Until then, you can modify downward dog in a standing position with arms on the wall, and child's pose can be done with your forehead propped on a couple of blocks or bolster. Standing forward fold can be modified with forearms resting on thighs. I also sometimes do these poses un-modified, but only hold for 3 breaths maximum. Check with your ophthalmologist about this. With Love, Tracey

Thank you for this. Having just been diagnosed with a condition that affects the eyes, I found this so healing and your openness touching.
Sarah04.06.2018
Thank you so much I really appreciate your meditation for the eyes. Would you consider doing a Yoga class demonstrating how not to lower your head below the heart?
Tracey05.06.2018
Dear Sarah, Yes, I am planning to film a class just like that when I am next in the studio. I live in Australia, so it will be next year when I am in Holland again. But until then, you can be a bit creative with props, etc to modify poses to suit the condition. See the above reply to Silke for a few suggestions. :-) WIth Love, Tracey

Tracy I m so happy I found you because I was diagnosed with glaucoma a year ago. I read your article and found it very interesting and helpful. I had almost lost hope in ever practicing yoga again. I’m a yoga teacher myself and now I more motivated to teach yoga. Thank you so much.
