The famous iliopsoas muscle... connecting the femur to the pelvis and spine.  Full of mystical lore and modern stories due to sedentary life, the psoas has the potential to release emotional tension when stretched. All muscles should be able to contract and release with equal force, so this longer intensive experience dances between strengthening and stretching the front of the hips. We'll start with some rolling of our joints then Sun Salutations, and from there, lots of lunges and activations. You’ll need a block for this practice and some time afterwards to really integrate the experience.

Don't know why but this class made me think it would be nice to have a flowing class, a sort of dance

I remember a class from David very similar to this one, I believe it was called Lunge-a-Rama, and I adored that class so much, at some point I was doing it weekly to help with my tight psoas. I'm so, so happy to have a new, updated version of lunge-a-rama, with the bonus of strength work! Thank you David, much appreciated as always 🙏

Wow! What a deep dive into the world of psoas! My psoas loved it! David, PLEASE! Make a program out of this topic, the gateways to the soul. I guess my gateway must be the trapezius, especially the upper section. I can't wait to get the weight off the shoulders and neck.

Happy New Year. Packed away all the Xmas decorations and this class helped to release the negative remnants of the old year. 🎈🎠🙏

Amazing class! Ha, I giggled at your riffing on all the various other muscles that might in fact be THE muscle of the soul. Psoas feels pretty soulful to me. The leg swings were especially helpful. They helped me notice and correct a tendency to collapse into my pelvis. I’ll repeat this class, it’s a great complement to my yoga for scoliosis practice, which includes, of course, both of your “Thoracic Park” classes. Happy new year, David!

No surprise that there is a new and great yoga class uploaded that fits my needs perfectly. And us old ladies with all our hard earned wisdom can tell anyone that you should listen to David and take really good care of all the muscles that get a good seeing to in this class. For the longest time I've been having major problems due to all this bad boys being weakened, shortened, over loaded or whatever else happens when things do not go according to plan. Curling up into a fetal position is a reflex when we are experiencing stress. It may not happen as in us bending over, but I firmly believe that mental and emotional stress creates tension. This in addition to spending so much times sitting is having a huge impact on muscles that are there for lots more than our sedentary lives require. I have been lucky enough to also stumble upon some stress and tension release techniques and after this class there was a release like nobody's business. I am totally convinced that the stress being released had very little to do with the physical activity in class. You mentioned emotions surfacing... I am no stranger to that and see it a huge bonus to my practice. I have heard people, even within the yoga community say that emotions aren't stored in the tissues. Well, be that as it may, I beg to differ, according to years of experience. The perhaps most interesting thing I take away from various yoga classes these days is that more than anything they shine a light on what I really need to work on, be it physical and/or emotionally. This class is no exception. I dont like to repeat the same exercise over and over and therefor I just love that fact that there as several classes available now that address this area/problem of the body specifically and through different methods. Thanks again, David for this very useful class.
