Alternate nostril breathing (Nadi Shodhana) relaxes your nervous system and reduces feelings of anxiety and stress. This breathing technique also helps to balance your mind to bring mental clarity and sharpen your concentration. A great practice to do when you feel scattered and want to centre yourself, or before your meditation.

I always loved this practice Esther. It does give a sense of more clarity. I practice the foundation you have just teached in the past week (eyes relaxed, jaw relaxed, head slighty move back, grounding in the mat, torso "elevated"...).

Wonderful tutorial! In a previous version of the nadi shodana instructions, it was noted that we should be practicing the ujjayi technique during the in/out breaths (constricting the throat to make a whisper sound). That wasn't mentioned in this newer version. Should a whisper sound be created or not during nadi shodana?
Esther25.03.2022
Yes a very gentle ujjayi sound helps for the concentration and when a nostril is blocked.

Hello from England, one question when you breath in do you draw from diaphragm and then expand ribs etc?
Esther25.03.2022
Hi Nicholas, yes, think about expanding ribs to front, sides and back all the way to the top of the lungs

Thank you! Just wondering if there's any benefit in engaging the pelvic floor during either the inhale or the exhale?
