This tutorial explores how Kapalabhati works and then takes you on a Somatic journey into the realm of your pelvis - or, in other words, "a pelvic journey into your underworld". This deep exploration involves innovative and powerful invitations to move the intention of the breath and dive deeply into all the connections of Mula Banda.

Thank you for this somatic take on Kapalabhati. I find this way of practice brought in a more mindful and balanced state than the high that normally occurs with this type of breathing. What I felt now was more subtle and interoceptive. Directing the breath to the pelvic floor felt expansive. I had a mindbody altering experience with the neurocellular pattern of pulsation in an experiental anatomy (bmc) class last year. I have had chronic back pain since I was a kid and working with the pulsation released a blockage in my spine as if by magic! Your classes for the feet seem to have a similar effect, thank you for those as well. Based on my experience there is a connection, a similar current occurring with the BMC pulsation pattern as with the scaravelli wave. Would you consider doing a longer class specifically on somatic ways to tune in to the pelvic floor?

HI Elina Thanks for this wonderful response. I truly appreciate your words of tuning into your body. It is so inspiring. SO I just visited the Ekhart Studio and taught a class on the Bandha's and their interconnections which could be an interesting journey for you when the class is released. The wave in the spine that Vanda Scaravelli talks about is for sure connected to the pulsation pattern you discovered. How can it not be? We are connected from our bone marrow all the way through the skin via our watery body, our tissues, and our skins (fascia) into our environment apparently! PLUS for your own exploration I suggest 1. The pelvic floor can be viewed as a wall because of the the angle of the pelvis. AND there are of course pelvic diaphragms that are in the shape of a diamond with attachments to the tailbone. 2.You can feel the diaphragms pulsing in the wall, in the diamond and in the walls of your vagina, anus and perineum with the pelvic winks. IE bring on these areas with each active exhale OR slowly lift them like a silk scarf on each inhale and let go on the exhale. 3. Try the above but switch off the walls of the yoni and just try activating the walls of the anus and visa versa. Interesting. 4. Try moving into postures like down dog and up dog and especially back bending using Kapalabhati and see where that takes you. 5. Try Bastrika ..gently. Active inhale and active exhale...then bring on Maha Mudra on at the end of your round. Don't forget to let the belly drop forward first then let the inhale in when you finish 6. Finally try feeling into your body when you Ovulate...which ovary is it coming from that month? And tune into your cycle and how does each months bleed feel? Hope that all helps and do let me know what you discovered. Love Helen x

Viewed the video again to refresh my memory. IAlways a pleasure to practice with you :) Something new lit up in my brain. ;: .. I have non medicated high blood pressure... and usually there are warning against doing breath work for people with my condition. But if you said something about being careful if you have low blood pressure because it might lower it too much ... Ha hum.... Then would this breathing be something I should do everyday ? Would doing it more energically be better for me ? I know you are not a doctor and I am not asking for medical advice. .. just your thoughts about it if you could . Thank you, f or all your videos , and please keep sharing your knowledge with us namaste

HI Lorraine. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you here. I have been in transit from India and just landed in the UK. Am safe and well and very peaceful. OK if I were you I would practice this Kapalabhati about 3 times a week, as long as its practised without force. Let your body tell you what it needs and you will find that each time will teach you some new insight. You can also try this breathing exercise moving into postures like down dog and up dog...which I think I show here or in another class...thanks for your question. I would suggest you try some of my breathing classes too. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions. With Love x

Such a fresh, natural, and calming guided exploration. I realized that, in the past, when I heard the word "Kapalabhati" and prepared to practice, my body got "armored" up for battle. This class dispells all of that. Your hand movements, like a musical conductor help so much, too. Heartfelt thanks. The journey begins! <3

Welcome to this journey into your pelvis Georgia. Love your honesty... I also used to feel the same. Much love and enjoy the spaciousness 💓

Really interesting to awake the lower abdomen/body area this way. Must find the time to do it again and again . Great thanks, Helen !
Helen18.04.2019
Hi Sec Yes I agree It’s fascinating to actually feel how releasing tension in our digestive system is directly connected to helping relieve lowerback pain. Thank you and yes kept repeating ! ♥️
Gemma15.04.2019
