Ramani17.03.2015
Enjoyed this calm and relaxing class very much even though I am not a vata dosha person. Thanks a lot.

I'm Vata Kapha, so the winter is making me feel super cold! I woke up this morning feeling "bleh" but decided I won't just laze around. Did my meditation, managed to calm down some thoughts, but when I started the asana practice all I could think of is, "I feel like cr*p, I really don't want to do this". Thankfully, I mustered the courage to sit and stay with my "bleh"ness and half way through the practice really started to feel better. I feel much more quiet now, more present, more grounded, and I feel more space in my chest and shoulders. Thank you for a beautiful class. Would like to see more classes like this!
Irina21.12.2016
Wow, Amal, thanks for sharing! So glad you did the entire practice and felt better afterwards. xx
Elisabeth16.03.2015
Thank you Irena. A very helpful class and a good reminder of what I need to do to help balance the vata tendencies. Blessings!

Yet an other lovely practice Irina! I very much related to all the characteristics you described (except for traveling as I get anxious when doing so, and I love to make lists and have routines) but otherwise everything was spot on. Lately I have been having more trouble when practicing yoga with being connected and having my mind focused on what I am doing in the moment. This class was exactly what I needed today and I look forward to coming back to this regularly! I also had my best shoulder stand yet with your instructions. Thank you!
Irina29.04.2015
Thanks, dear! So happy to hear the practice was just what you needed in the moment and that you found your way into shoulderstand with more ease. x
Nathalie15.03.2015
Although I'm not a Vata person I did like this practise very much. Thank you Irina
Gesine19.09.2015
I´m a Vata-Kapha-type and at times very nervous and ungrounded with cold hands and feet. I´ll try this practice tomorrow again and see what happens.;) This class was very nice, thank you, Irina! I find the whole dosha-topic very interesting!
Eva14.10.2017
Exactly what I needed right now. Thx.
Irina15.10.2017
You're welcome, Eva! Glad to hear you enjoyed the class. x
Rick13.03.2015
I felt more grounded after this class. Very calming. Thanks Irina!
Sabine26.06.2015
Even I notice only few signs of Vata (esp. a racing mind and lots of ideas – without having the energy to realise all of them) and after some (too) active days this practice really grounds me and my mind to start calmer in this new day and the weekend. Thanks so much Irina, this practice is and will be very helpful
Dana15.03.2015
I want to thank you for this wonderful practice Irina. Just what I needed this morning with my Vata mind. I will do this again and again.
Irina20.07.2015
Thank you all for your comments! So good to read you're finding more peace and stability through the practice. Much love!
Irina16.03.2015
Thank you all! So sweet to read your kind words... makes my heart sing. As for the traveling - most vata's love the idea of traveling and love it when they arrive somewhere else, but actually moving from one point to the next can make them feel very ungrounded, so indeed, some vata's dislike traveling because of this.
jutri17.03.2015
Ahaaaa moment, i never understood the travelling thing cause indeed i like travelling but don't like the moving part, makes me feel very hyper, very vata. The arriving though (as soon as everything is in place and settled) i like a lot! I think it is about time a time machine is invented especially for all those vata types who want to but rarely do travel because of the moving part :-) Thanks for the very grounding and utterly relaxing practice. Will defenitely repeat this one a lot, especially before going to bed! Warm regards x
Laura24.03.2015
I loved the part where you mentioned that balance doesn't necessarily mean sturdy...I feel as if that can be applied to my own life. I strive for balance but balance doesn't necessarily mean rigidity. Thank you for this practice!
Irina25.03.2015
Oh yes, that can be applied to every aspect of our lifes! I love that you took that away from the practice. x
Saeeda23.03.2017
Thank you so much for this practice Irina -it is one of my favourites. It is my "go to practice " when I am feeling scattered. It truly centres me.
Irina23.03.2017
So glad to hear, Saeeda! x
Louise21.05.2015
Wow, Irina! This really works! My mind chatter quitened, and I was very calm. Typically as a Vata I find it hard to practice this every day (not enjoying routine so much!) but I know I should... I will try harder! Thank you, Namaste
Melinda19.09.2015
Thanks for a lovely post travel practice. I modified the pose after the squat but otherwise this was doable for me and I like the idea of coming back to it. Namaste.
Neus17.07.2015
It was wonderful, Irina! Thank you! I have now a better understanding of myself. Each one of the characteristics you mentioned about Vata describes me so well! I am a great traveller, I've lived in very different places in only five years and yet I liked it, I get each time very anxious and exhausted before and after moving out. I am facing a new challenge in a month, moving for the first time to another country... again. I am sure that getting this practice into my daily routine will help. Thanks again!
Kait22.04.2015
This was exactly what my vata mind needed this evening. Thank you Irina! I'm looking forward to doing it again :-)
jenny25.02.2018
Ah what a great collection thank you for this link! ❤️
Irina25.02.2018
You're welcome! x

I can’t tell your how perfect these Vata classes are for me. I’m looking forward to practicing them every day. Are they suitable for practicing during menstruation? Thank you ?
Irina25.02.2018
They are if you leave out the inversions - but you could also opt for a class especialy for menstruation, they're also vata-balancing but don't include inversions. You can find those here: https://www.ekhartyoga.com/collections/menstruation. xx
Ilse17.06.2015
Wonderful! I always enjoy the slower moving practices for exactly those reasons you mentioned, my head is always in the next moment and this really helps to ground me. thank you Irina!
Sara07.04.2015
Your comments below about traveling make so much sense to me. I love planning a trip, but when it gets closer to actually taking the trip I get very anxious and often cancel the trip altogether! Yet when I do go, once I arrive and get situated to new surroundings, I'm happy. I'm working on not making "to do lists" in my head during yoga. It's a struggle. I will do this practice more often now and see if that helps. Thank you Irina! I always learn something new from you.
Sara07.04.2015
Thanks for the travel tips! I will definitely try them.
Irina07.04.2015
So good to hear that you're having the intention to focus on the practice when you're practicing! And yes, that can be a challenge... As for the traveling: try this vata-practice before and after traveling, eat more grounding foods during your travels (pumpkinsoup, oatmeal...), massage your feet with warm sesame oil... This will all help to make traveling more fun - or at least a little easier. Love!
Lakshmi12.03.2015
Wonderful class Irena. Thank you so much. Every Vata characteristic you mention is exactly me except for traveling- I find traveling far too stressful and prefer my home-comforts. The floor poses towards the end were lovely and I felt my mind really slow down at this stage in the class. The meditation was incredibly grounding- connecting with the earth and trying to becoming more 'solid' had a really good effect on my anxious mind. Thank you so much for starting my day in such a positive way :)
Crystal19.03.2015
Lovely way to warm up when I was cold this evening! I'll be practicing this series for a while. It felt wonderful.
Irina25.03.2015
That's so good to hear! May it continue to warm you up. :-)
Libby15.10.2015
What a perfect practice for me today! I am traveling in a few hours and it is very stressful for me getting from one place to another without a big list of fears. I loved your tip about grounding with sesame oil on the feet, and will do that now. My Chihuahua is traveling with me and his doshas are in perfect alignment, so I am taking a tip from his life and just staying in the moment. Thank you.
Irina15.10.2015
Happy to hear the practice felt perfect for the moment, Libby! Hope you'll have a wonderful trip and are staying relaxed and open to the moment. Taking advice from animals is always such a great idea! And jai for warm sesame oil! xx
Adam11.08.2017
Hello Irina and thanks. I was feeling restless and undecided on what class to do this morning and returned to this one for the first time in ages. Interesting reading the comments, which clarified my current aversion to travel is actually vata related. Maybe time to stick with this one for a while again. Unless you have any new suggestions X
Irina11.08.2017
Hi Adam, Thanks for sharing! Glad to hear you found your way back to this class and that reading the comments clarified some things. It might be a good idea to stick with this one for a while indeed. There are a few new ones you could try, though looking for new suggestions is (most of the time) a typical vata thing, so my suggestion would be to keep coming back to this practice... If you really, really want to try something else: I have a new(er) vata class online that you might enjoy. Also, the ones I have online for travelers might suit you as well (especially part 2). x
Amy-Belle06.12.2016
Hi Irena, thank you for this class, I have been really enjoying practising it so far. I have question about forward fold, is it ok to do this pose with bent knees? also is it best to have feet together or apart? many thanks x
Irina11.12.2016
Hi Amy-Belle! Thanks for your comment and questions. Sure, it's totally ok to bend the knees. I do that most of the times as well. In this case, I would suggest to have the feet about hip width apart, as that helps to ground even more. xx Irina
Jennifer16.09.2020
Thank you. Lovely class beautifully taught.
Irina18.09.2020
Hurray! Thanks, Jennifer. Happy to hear. :-)
Karen27.07.2016
This is such a wonderful class for me, thank you. You described my mind as it was wondering away to other things and my need to keep moving. This will be a class I do at least twice a week to keep me grounded.
Joan18.05.2018
Very very nice! Thank you! I think I am between Vata and Pitta, if one can say that this way... And because I feel the need to feel grounded I thought this class would be right for me..and so it is! I will try the Pitta class as wel .
Irina19.05.2018
Hey Joan! So glad to hear the class was a perfect fit for you! Hope you'll enjoy the pitta class just as much. :-) x Irina
