This sequence starts with a Pranayama that activates the digestive fire. We then come to the asana portion of this class with poses like Baddha Konasana, Upavistha Konasana, Bharadvajasana and Viparita Karani, a pose that massages our belly, and some shoulder back openers. A lovely relaxation is all you need after all that to soften the body and mind so that your digestive system works wonderfully.

Thank you Esther, this was exactly what I needed! I ate something earlier today which just didn't quite sit right with me and now I finally feel like things are moving in the right direction and resolving. I'll definitely bookmark this practice for when that happens again :)

Thank you!! Lovely practice in the morning and very effective for the belly area indeed. Thanks for explaining the idea of the poses as well (like the intenstine meridian....: interesting how I sometimes when I have things with my digestion automatically stretch like that!!) I like the combination of direct experience in the moment with that extra information. Namasté!

This is a refreshing class on digestion. In the USA, it seems we have a full month and a half of indulgence from Thanksgiving to New Years. In a yoga class I took recently in town, the yoga instructor jokingly mentioned that it was time to work off the food. While I believe there is a place for active sessions after indulgences, classes like this are also appropriate. Indulgences are human and happen to us all, but become especially burdensome when it happens as a result of a disconnect with our inner selves. Thank you for this gentle reminder this morning. <3

Yes we don't need to punish ourself after indulging, a gentle nudge for our body to start working properly can be all that is needed...

Thank you Esther for this great class. As a long-term IBS sufferer classes like this one are great as I often feel uncomfortable after eating and to let go of tension and twisting really helps, as well as the awareness on this part of the body. :)

Thank you, Esther. A very helpful sequence. Can you clarify where the rolled up blanket goes on the belly? I started with it below the belly button and then tried it on the belly button. Seemed it should be in the higher position - I could definitely feel my heartbeat in that position. This felt like a good sequence for also moving stuck energy in the belly area - that was my intention this morning.

Thank you Esther, this was so calming. I didn't really do it for the digestion reason (although it started working already) but because I really prefer the gentle classes lately, it is so much kinder on my body and mind. xxx

This did wonders for me today! Struggling to get back into my yoga routine after the festive season I was looking for a strong yang sequence to shake off the Kapha sluggishness, but glad I found this session followed by Fransesca's class 'yoga for when you don't feel like doing yoga' Feel like I am back on track now.
