Thank you Tashi for this informative sequence, I only watched it for now, will practice it another time. You make it look so easy, doing it so gracefully, floatingl'y ( is that a word?) like you weigh nothing. There is always room for improvement it doesn't matter how long I've been doing the salutations. I will definitely come back to it. Grateful to you and this site as always, namaste

This was excellent! Thank you so much, Tashi. I especially loved the breaking down of jumping back and forwards. I didn't have the courage to do them before because I didn't know the exact technique, but now that I know, thanks you you, I can practice them. :)

Hi tashi I just read your reply from two weeks back. Makes total sense. Thank you!
joanne27.03.2018
Hi tashi I love your attention to the little details that make all the difference. Is the a particular reason you shorten your stance by bringing your back foot forward after stepping the front foot into the Warrior 1?
Tashi27.03.2018
Hey there Joanne, I'm so glad you have found this tutorial helpful. To answer your question the logic I have for narrowing the stance is to allow the pelvis to square to the front of the mat without needing to lift off the back heel, in this way the posture promotes a safe and genuine extension of the back leg's hip. You can then use Warrior 1 as a wonderful prep for backbends and deeper lunges. It also differentiates it from the externally rotated hips of Warrior 2. It is modification that you could gradually reduce as the back ankle and hip becomes more mobile. Last note... I'd suggest some students lift off the back heel if there is discomfort in the back knee or sacrum area. Hope you can follow this explanation! Happy practice x
