If you’ve been overdoing things a bit – whether in your yoga practice, or sitting, standing or walking – your knees might be screaming for some extra TLC. This class gives your knees just that. It’s a quick and easy practice for any time of the day. Fun fact: I dreamed about this class long before I actually created it! You’ll need a block and a strap for this one.

This class is magic! i did it last night and again this morning as it greatly diminished the long term pain in my left knee: that knee as well as the rest of me are super grateful

Dear Irina, for wider hips is the block still supposed to be placed horizontally? I notice when you have the block between your thighs your feet remain hip width but my hips are much wider and when I place it horizontally my feet end up way wider than my hips. Would it make more sense to have the block vertical in my case?
Irina20.03.2024
Dear Cheryl, thanks so much for asking! You're absolutely right, it does make way more sense to have the block vertical in your case. Love, Irina

Irina…as it happens many times I came across this practice by accident. I did some early somatics work with Lisa and this class just a perfect compliment. I think the use of the block both in Tadasana and bridge is very useful. Strengthening muscles round knees (or any joint for that matter) is so important! Thank you! T x

I have degenerative arthritis in my left knee. I can see that putting a block between one's legs is helpful, but why have attendees stand and do this? This is really unrealistic for a person like myself for whom it is very painful to stand for any length of time! Who is your intended audience?
Irina16.01.2023
Dear Ruth, thank you for sharing your situation, your experience, as well as for asking these questions. I'm sorry to hear this class wasn't a good match for you in the way I've offered it. I can imagine that this must've felt frustrating. As mentioned in the class description, this class was intended for people with minor knee issues - whether that's from overstretching the muscles around the knee, or from not using these muscles much in the first place (for example when you're sitting a lot). In these cases, stabilizing and strengthening the muscles around the knee can be very helpful. Tadasana with a block specifically can help to learn proper alignment as well as helps to strengthen the muscles, which can both help to relieve knee pain. Of course, everyone’s body is different. Depending on the extent of the knee pain, these poses may or may not suit your needs. When practicing with any pain - and even when you're not experiencing pain - it’s critical to listen to your body and only do what feels good for you. Warmly, Irina
