This Vinyasa Krama is based on four poses that will prepare and open the body for Agnistambhasana / Double Pigeon or Square Pose. This pose stretches the hips and the groin. Your hips are the key to your yoga practice and your mobility and this is a very important pose to practice. Try to stay in it a bit longer.

Very useful class. This is one pose I can manage without too much difficulty. Valued the insight about turning the inner thigh muscle of the back leg out in order to bring that hip down in pigeon pose. Thanks so much for these classes.

thank you, i am especially greatful for the additional poses you showed, as firelog pose is just not there for me (as yet). your thoughtful way to explain the poses is wonderful.

Interesting details. I really like to combine your approach with Sandra's approach via Anusara yoga. I really felt while aligning my back leg in the pigeon pose how i could center better the energy in the lower abdomen. This kind of short tutorials is really GREAT. Thanks.

Its the journey towards it which is the interesting one. maybe one day you will come to the destination:-) trust the process and know that it takes practice and growth to get there and if you are not there yet to enjoy steps towards it and even if the final destination pose is not available for you yet, it not makes you a looser, you are still the wonderful person you are:-)

Almost there! I've been working for over a year on my hip-opening and it's the first time I try your class, so it felt really good. Thank you!

This is the easiest I have ever been able to get in double pigeon. Even though the lead in is short I feel it made me really confident being able to do a tough pose. Thank you!!
Maire22.03.2014
Thanks, Marlene. It was interesting to feel how the arms and shoulders engage in these poses - and helpful.

Ohhh my hips are tight! :) I look forward to breathing into each pose and loosening those hips up! Again your cuing is superb Marlene! And I love what you say above "trust the process and know that it takes practice and growth to get there ...you are still the wonderful person you are:-)" - so encouraging! Thank you for this series!

Double Pigeon is absolutely not available for me at this stage--it's another area for growth! I so appreciated the modifications in the post class tutorial. This was a wonderful follow-up class to your hip opener class. Thank you!

I love your vinyasa kramas, they have helped me understand how the poses are supposed to work and the flow into the pose does wonders for slowly reaching a new level of flexibility. Thank you, great way to teach.

Still love this little video! When I am tight in the hips and tight on time this is my go to video. Thank you, Marlene! You are one of my favorite teachers!

Marlene, thank you so much for this tutorial! I have had problems with my hips for years. I just started yoga about a year ago and I started for that reason. I have always been flexible but lost a lot of core strength after having my children. I woke up yesterday and today with very tender hips and lower back and decided to take it easy for a couple days but I found I only became more stiff and sore. So I found this video and I feel so much better! This will definitely be one of my favorites for a long time!

So helpful to watch this and join you in a modified way with a knee injury. slightly pressing into the ball of the feet was helpful to me. i loved the tutorial afterwards. a separate tutorial is a great idea! i love how you encouraged us to stay i nthe pose as long as we wanted. so spacious. thanks again.
