Rose07.12.2015
Lovely relaxing class before bed, thanks Esther :) I have a question though: always when I hold standing forward fold for a while, I get a pins & needles tingling sensation in the back of my legs & soles of my feet, almost as if a nerve somewhere is being blocked or something. Have you heard of this before? Is it common? Otherwise my alignment might be off i suppose.. I am pretty flexible though so forward folds are comfortable for me.
Kirsty08.12.2015
Hello Anne Roos, Esther is away at the moment so I'm answering on her behalf. Pins and needles sensations are usually down to circulation issues but to be honest I'm not sure why you are experiencing this. Even if you are flexible, it might be worth trying your forward fold with bent knees to see if this makes any difference. I'll double check with Esther when she's back, though.
Esther14.12.2015
Hey Anne Roos, It could be a nerve. I would go with what Kirsty already suggested, bend the knees and get some of the pressure off the lower back. Also especially when you are flexible, really pull the low belly in and up in this pose, and keep the tail a bit drawn down. It might be that you go deeper then is good for you. Let me know..
Meaghen29.10.2015
Dear Esther, This calming de-stress was heaven sent for me today! As was your website when I discovered it four (maybe more?) years ago. Life brings us all ups and downs but the material available to me through your website has been a constant presence that has seen me through so much. And I always tell people that it's the best quality yoga instruction I've ever had! If I ever saw you in person I would want to hug you with as much gratefulness and happy tiding as my arms could hold. Hugs from the Pacific Northwest, USA:)
Esther29.10.2015
Thank you dear Meaghen, I would happily receive your hug! And just did, virtually :-) big hug back..
Jocelyne20.10.2015
Thank you Esther for this wonderful sequence. My body loved it and my mind even more... It creates space everywhere and the mind is peaceful. Thank you with Love.
Esther20.10.2015
Mind is peaceful.. wonderful! Love right back to you.
Christine22.10.2015
Thank you for this nice practice. I notice whenever I focus on my outbreath (doing Nadhi Shodan, meditating or counting the outbreath) I almost always have to squeeze out the breath as if there was no air in the lungs. The inbreath is, for me, much smoother. I would be glad if you have any suggestions on this. Thank you! :)
Dana27.10.2015
just what I needed after a day in front of the computer. Thanks very much Esther!
Esther29.10.2015
You are welcome Dana!
Laura19.10.2015
Such a wonderful practice - I didn't anticipate crying when I started this class but I guess I was holding on to so much that I had to let it out and let it go. Thank you.

Oh, better out then in Laura :-) Happy for you that you released some of it!

Esther31.10.2015
Absolutely Melinda, very hard at times.. still when it is reality you might as well, along with accepting all the pain and frustration and grief that comes with it.

Dear Esther, what a lovely way to finish off the year. This is the kind of practice I resist doing sometimes but know will make me feel so much calmer and clearer afterwards. Just doing the breathing pattern is sometimes difficult for me but joining it with the poses and movements really helps. Thank you and a Happy New Year!
Esther01.01.2016
Dear Jo, so welcome and a very happy new year to you too!
Annelies05.01.2016

Just what I needed! Thank you
Kitty10.05.2018
Really relaxing, really calming...thank you, Esther!
Kitty11.01.2016
Thank you Esther, for your swift reply! Relaxed breathing is an issue for me lately... Oops, I thought it was the other way round-when you breathe in you go "up" and you exhale going down...?!
Esther12.01.2016
Hey Kitty, its both fine. Its more if you do one and its not relaxed, trying the other can be just the thing :-))
Kitty10.01.2016
Esther, hi! After practicing again this lovely exercise which kept me relaxed and energized all day yesterday, I have a question: when I breathe in, what do I expand-my belly or chest, or upper chest and shoulders? I tend to inhale and expand my upper chest, so that I can feel my shoulders rise, which does not feel like relaxed breathing...
Esther11.01.2016
Hi Kitty, Maybe you can try to breathe downwards, from the lungs, heart down to the pelvic floor on the inbreath, and let the outbreath move back from the pelvic floor to the heart. This is not a way to "always" breath. But see if it works for you in this class.. The other option is to just let it happen and let the breath and body sort it out.
Kitty09.01.2016
Thank you, Esther. The practice slowed me down, relaxed me, calmed me especially in the mental level (I so needed to accept and let go). The only thing that did not relax were my shoulders, back, neck, where I still have tension-but I will work on that, too, later. Much needed practice.
Lorna19.10.2015
Very, Very timely. Thank you Esther.
Esther20.10.2015

DIMITRA15.09.2016
Thank you so much Esther for a so relieving program! great!
Dianne01.11.2015
Thank you Esther. Just a quick question. What are the benefits of the various ratios for the breath?
Dianne06.11.2015
Yes, that m,kes sense. Thank you
Esther01.11.2015
lengthening the outbreath relaxes the nervous system and mind, also very good just before bed, or in bed ;-) The inhalation stimulates the sympathetic system (active), and exhalation stimulates the parasympathetic system (relaxation response). When we are under pressure, thinking stressful thoughts, we tend to make ourselves tighter and more tense by increasing the length of the inhalation. So exhaling longer is the antidote.. Hope that makes sense.
Adam17.12.2015
As ever, thank you for your classes, thank you for this site.
Esther18.12.2015

Rebecca01.07.2016
Thanks esther it was very stabilising to have this breathing focus, something that can remain constant when it feels right now everything externally has changed so much that its very disorienting and quite frightening
