Very interesting, as your talks usually are. Much of what you say I can identify with especially in the work place. My problem is in the moment of frustration/unhappiness, I tend to (unconsciously) resort to old ingrained habits, which do not serve me. Breaking the cycle seems not possible (perhaps more yoga practice would be the solution!). I don't beat myself up so much now though. In fact, I found myself on my meditation mat this morning, sitting with whatever came up, and felt a whole lot better afterwards, with a clearer mind and not the need to ruminate on what I should've, or could've done differently the previous day. This made for a more peaceful day overall. Actually, writing this down is very cathartic! Thanks, David. Thanks Ekhart Yoga. Gratitude.

Many thanks Lorna; sounds like you are making the important first steps in loosening from old habits. You are aware of them, and taking steps to see them for what they are. Like anything of depth these processes take time.

Hi David, thanks for this talk, a helpful and clear reminder for me of the ongoing requirement of patience. I felt, listening to you, that when i was younger my realisations felt fresher ie less boring to put into practice! But the same fundamental things things, which you covered in your talk, I needed to do then and I still need to do now. That hasn't changed. So your focus of fear/laziness as two defining factors was helpful, I hadn't quite realised the laziness factor
David20.12.2017
Thanks Rebecca - yes, practice is ongoing! And just to clarify: when I talk about fear/laziness I am not using these in a judgemental way - I see these as deeply ingrained cultural patterns.

Thank you, David, I like how you have presenting the concept! I will try to think about it on the mat and outside. I think fear and laziness melt sometimes together (at least my laziness and my fear...), for me it is lazy-fear-ness while facing lots of uncertainty right now. I need to somehow get away from the certainty=safety concept in my life. Thank you again and have a blessed Advent.
David19.12.2017
Many thanks Michaela; you are not alone for many of us fear and laziness melt together. And there is a lot of cultural programming to push us towards equating certainty with safety; what works for me is finding safety in the certainty of being inside rather than in external circumstances - if that makes sense! Wishing you a happy end-0f-year.
