New to Headstand? Clayton shows you a safe and practical way to develop technique, strength and confidence so that you can enjoy the health benefits of Headstand.
Beautiful!!
And very useful to teach students that are willing to try this inversion.
To go forward, can you give us some tips to overcome the fear of falling on the back? Oh yes! I feel that fear myself, so I do it close to a wall, ..just in case.
Thanks a lot. I wish you (and to all the lovely EkhartYoga teachers) a fantastic sunday!

Hi Candela- Thanks for your message.
To overcome the fear of falling,
Practice with one leg, alternating, for a long time........
Until you get familiar with being upside down....
Until you develop some strength by pressing the upwards foot and leg straight up
and by pressing the elbows and wrists down....
And give yourself the liberty to actually fall on a soft or protected floor, grass etc ....
You will most likely laugh and say "oh that wasn't so bad"
This is a pose that you need to practice several times a week.
Good Luck ;-)

Hello.
Thank you so much for this. I am finding that I don't get a very straight leg and it kind of hurts the top of my head when I do this. I am building up to 8 breaths. Any suggestions for the top of the head pressure?? And for getting straight legs??

Hi Kyle -
Try putting a folded towel or yoga mat (1CM only) under your head and
Put as much weight as possible onto your wrists and elbows.
The leg straightening will come later as flexibility and strength evolve.
Cheers,
Clayton.

Thank you for this tutorial! I have been working on my headstand for a few weeks now and I am beginning to be able to straighten my legs into a full headstand. I have been otherwise working on my core and shoulder strength and I am suddenly seeing the results in my headstand practice. So rewarding! Thanks for sending me down this path safely!
