In this class you will practice limitation and boundaries in your body using muscle activation. Making your legs and arms strong and powerful limits your capacity to stretch. Although we don't want rigidity in our bodies, hearts and minds, having strong and clear boundaries is what makes us healthy humans! This class will guide you to feeling those so you can bring your boundaries into your relationships and daily life! With Malasana, Lunges, Virabhadrasana II, Dolphin pose, Plank, Salabhasana and more.

Have two blocks handy for this class.

Nekehia15.01.2024
So perfect. Unless we are clear on our no's we cannot be clear on our yes's. This is my year of clarifying my no's in my professional life.
Sandra16.01.2024
Thank you for sharing, Nekehia! I am excited for your year to come, it's one of the best things we can do for ourselves (and for others too!)

Thanks for this reminder, Sandra. Setting boundaries, especially in yoga, can save us from physical pain, and ensure that our overdoing a pose doesn't ruin the benefits! The blocks helped me in the forward stretches (I have short arms). I appreciated your advice in this class. Namaste.
Sandra19.03.2024
I am so happy to read this, Cathy! I hope your healthy boundaries make your yoga better! Namasté

Up until lately I would never have thought that my boundaries were too weak. Still, even I, flexible as I am both physically and mentally have asked myself on occasion: am I perhaps stretching myself too much, even if I feel that what I am doing is ok as long as I am able to adapt. For a really long time situations in my life left no room for saying no. You may react "what, really?!" but I stand by my choices back then. I have come to see that my MO is perhaps in need of an adjustment, seeing as things have changed. In this not 100% super functioning 61 year old physical body I have of course met my limit on numerous occasions and being super annoyed by, me closing my ears to the modifications my yoga teachers suggest, of course. I have almost always perceived this as physical weakness and my emotional response an equally weak one, as something negative. I have got it all wrong, these are boundaries and as such flexible and could teach me so much about myself! What I can not do today I might be able to do at a later time, should I so choose or need to. Maybe I am not supposed to do this at all! A boundary is protection, support, a reminder that so far but not further and even a guide, and all for my own good! Who would have thought that a stop sign does not equal being permanently parked? … anyone and everyone with healthy boundaries, I guess. The river bank analogy struck a chord also. A solid pipeline function at the risk of getting clogged because of its own strength whereas a river bank can and will give way if necessary and therefor the flow is allowed to go on. It is not often I realise this much before 8 am and before my morning cup of coffee. There seems to be no limit as to what might happen today :-)

Dear Ann, as usual, I so enjoy your musings and there is so much wisdom in the questions you bring up and the experiences that you share! What it brings up in me is that life is never a simple black and white in which we find truths that are permanent. Life invites us to feel, experience, accept and challenge ourselves in every moment as what is organically appropriate for us. And that brings us always to the present moment so that we become so finely attuned to ourselves that we don't have to think about it any longer and we live spontaneously in alignment with who we are! Thank you for bringing up this beautiful conversation! X

Mhairi22.06.2024
Wow I feel like I’ve discovered parts of me I never had. Met some stricter boundaries along this class way. Low plank lifts were a definite ‘ no ‘ but adapted the pose to keep the flow 😊 . Feel strong and a bit tired but in a good work way. Thanks for rekindling some forgotten muscle memories 🦋
Sandra01.07.2024
Hi Mhairi, so good you adapted the low plank so it would work for you! I'm so glad you've discovered new parts of yourself in this class! Thanks for sharing :)
