Maxime06.04.2016
A recurrent theme I see in my life is when I think I really want something and I must have it right away, an impulsive purchase for example, I often feel regret afterwards realizing I didn't need the object as much as I had thought and maybe spent money I shouldn't have. Where as when I stop and breathe through an impulsive thought of buying, I can then reflect on wether or not having that thing will actually benefit my life in some way, then I ask, can I find it second hand? Can I make it myself? Can I fix an old one? Can I find something similar at a cheaper price or made in a more sustainable earth-friendly way? Then when the answers come, I feel so much better about my purchases and I know I am spending my money consciously in line with greedlessness. I'm finding myself making these conscious decision more and more and on simple things like toiletries, food, toys, homeschooling material and furniture! Thank you making sense of these simple decisions!!
Jennilee09.04.2016
Maxime! Thank you for sharing your experiences...I too sometimes impulsively buy...like those yoga pants...she just came out with her spring line and I bought 3 pairs!!! They make me SO HAPPY though:):):)

Mary27.01.2017
I love this intro, even though I find truthfulness challenging. I so want not to hurt others that I often tell them what they want to hear - not always because I am such a kind martyr but through pride, that I don't want them to think ill of me. This was a gentle reminder. I didn't feel judged, it was just loving and kind. Thank you. And I loved the story about the cow!
Jennilee27.01.2017
Mary! Sending you love!!! I also find it hard to be truthful sometimes because I don't want to engage in any confrontation. But as I age...as I get wiser...I realize that the kindest thing to do sometimes is to really get in touch with my feelings and express myself from my heartspace:):):)
Anita07.04.2016

Hi Jeniliee, I watched your video recently and it made me think...On one hand I truly came to appreciate your example in a sense that i.e. if truth has a potential to hurt it should be spoken with softness. But the example, however well meant, about the neighbour who did not reveal where the animal went, even though he knew exactly where it was, made me remember what I learned about truth in religion studies, when I was a kid-teenager. So called half truth -when I conceal a part of the information, that is available to me, because I make personal decision that the information I posses may hurt someone- is still a lie. True non violence would have been to reveal, where the cow went and find a way how to save it. This example invites people to think it is ok to i.e. only tell a friend, who asked me directly if I saw her husband in a morning-to answer that I saw her husband today morning and maybe forget to mention I saw him kissing another woman. I remember this half truth = lie lesson very clearly, as my boyfriend at the time then admitted some small half truth /lies. It was very good -freeing for him and for our relationship. I know this video is old and there is probably small chance of rerecording it or having actual discussion but...well I wanted to share my take on it nonetheless. Thanks, Dana
Gaye18.10.2021
Hi, I think most of us have tried one yoga class or a youtube yoga video but a friend asked me if I practice yoga and that question led to me doing some research on yoga and in particular the 8 path and Yamas and I was struck by the similarity of the philosophy to a slimming program I am following and whilst my nutrition has improved my personal growth in mind and the physical needs support to flourish I wanted to bring more regular yoga into my life and found this forum after a Russel Brand video talked with so much passion about how Ashram Yoga helped with his addiction . With food I now recognise the need for Yamas 1. Cleanliness -gives us the ability to recognize the habits we have picked up in our life that no longer serve us meaning I know I over eat and drink and I am working on this but like Russel I want to seek an alternative to zoneing out on excess of over eating and drinking. 2. Contentment to appreciate what we have and what we are, right now again this video was helpful with the concept that I may desire those yoga pants but I don't need it. 3 Discipline ‘burning enthusiasm’ with food I am doing better making better choices but I need a diversion from wanting wine everynight a habit formed during lock down I wish I could desire but not need any tips to help with this would be helpful. 4. self-study practicing self reflection I keep a journal and would love any quotes or yoga ideas to help me on my journey to better health I am overweight, tired, stiff and in pain5. feel empowered in daily life I want to shine radiate peace happiness and calmness
