To be able to safely bend backwards, it is necessary to stabilize and 'wake up' the tiny muscles around the spinal cord, so that when the backbend comes, it is supported by those muscles. In this class there's a lot of core work (abdomen, lower back, upper back and shoulders) to support the different backbends. It is also a more flowy Iyengar class than you might be used to. Enjoy!

Really appreciated this class - your sequence makes a level 2/3 very accessible? Also liked the repetitionof all the sequences - left feeling strong and cantered physicaland emotionally?Appreciated option to do bridgeinstead of wheel - thankyou for your thoughtful and caring teaching!

Thank you Adela. I Always enjoy your classes. Do you have any tips for me getting into bridge pose? I suffer from a whiplash (due to an accident 2 years ago) and have not enough strenght to push me up. I'm not forcing anything, so dont worry (I stayed in sethu bandha), but really like to work forward so i can do a full bridge pose in the future. Hope you have any helpful tips! :-)

Dear Manon, please have a look at the class on opening the shoulders in preparation for Urdva Dahnurasana, you might find interesting insights on how to open the shoulders and build up strenght to go up. In the meantime, a combination of dolphin pose practice (build up strangth) and setu bandha and you should start seeing changes..Let me know..Adela
