What a beautiful clear explanation. From someone who now knows she is in green/attack mode, your muscle magic class which I know by heart is a total healing gift. I look forward to seeing more of you on the mat. With many many thanks x
Helen05.10.2016
Thank you Lisa! It's a slow process but I'm making progress with my SI joint and your somatics which I practice almost daily. I have to learn to take it off the mat as I find myself so often in green attack. But at least I'm now aware of it with you great help. Thank you
Lisa05.09.2016
Hi Helen, what clear insight you have. Well done you !! I look forward to seeing you on the mat as well.
Lisa05.10.2016
Go well Helen. Hope you're coming out of green light. Knowledge is power ! See you on the mat soon.
Lisa07.10.2016
Helen, that is just super news. No practice or effort is ever wasted on the path to learning. Well done and keep it up.
Michelle22.11.2018
Thanks so much for this explanation. I’m excited to get started. I’m at ‘mid-life” ? and am hoping to get this body to consciously move in a way that serves well being. I’ve noticed I enjoy a slower practice now too. How often should Ipractice Somatics per week to really benefit the body? ??
Michelle01.02.2017
Thank you so much for this introductory! I recently pinched a nerve in my back (saw a doctor and am under his care) with a lot of spasm and pain. Been practicing here on Ekhart for many years and reached out via email to see what, if anything, I could do to help the healing along. Kristy directed me to consider Somatics with you and today was my first session. Just the easy arch and flatten video was all I could handle. I don't know if its coincidence or the practice but the pain is the least it's been in over a week! The information you explained here makes perfect sense! Thanks again and I'm ready for the next phase of my practice...Somatics... Namaste, Michelle
Martha03.09.2016
Interesting, looking forward to your classes, Lisa.
Viviane05.09.2016
I am teaching elderly people, so I can't wait for Somatics classes and thank you for your very clear explanation
Lisa05.09.2016
Hi Viviane, I have a trainee physiotherapy student who has a class of 80+ year olds who can do this stuff. She started them in chair yoga, took a year and a half to get them on the floor and now they are her best somatics students ! Age is in the brain.
Alice03.09.2016
I´m looking forward to your classes. :)
Tai16.11.2016
What a wonderful overview, deeply inspiring, thanks Lisa!
Lisa20.11.2016
Thanks Tai. I reserve the right to change my mind, but that's where I'm at with it in brief right now !
Laura04.09.2016
The red, green, and trauma explanations were very interesting. Yoga has taught me to be mindful, and it's interesting when I do a self-check and find myself in one of these poses. Instincts certainly are interesting. Can't wait to see more!
Lisa05.09.2016
It's a whole new world Laura.....
Lisa05.10.2016
Not just interesting Laura but primal, whole body responses. That's quite a chunk to digest but when we start to unravel one place it all unfolds. Pretty neat!
Marilyn09.12.2016
Thank you, Lisa, for sharing somatics with us. Is there a set of exercises you would recommend for all around daily use?
Marilyn24.12.2016
Wonderful. Thank you, Lisa.
Lisa23.12.2016
Dear Marilyn. Esther has a class up that might be useful for you. it's at https://www.ekhartyoga.com/videos/somatics-a-healing-practice if you want to check it out. All the very best, Lisa
Erika05.09.2016
Hi Lisa Hope you well, great to see you again (virtually!) another great session, love this explanation of somatics! Big hugs
Lisa05.09.2016
Hope to see you in person again soon Erika. Are you coming to play in Madrid in November ??
Lisa05.10.2016
It's taken me years to get to this understanding Erika but every bit was worth it.
Anthea15.09.2016
Lisa, thanks for that fascinating explanation. I Have found the somatic classes and teachers on this site super , I have a somatic recovery class memorised - so often I repeat it, the effects feel magical. Looking forward to your classes!
Lisa16.09.2016
Hi Anthea, delighted to be able to teach you. I look forward to hearing your new experiences.
Lorna03.09.2016
Thank you, Lisa. I know for sure somatics would be a good practice for me.
Rosemary18.11.2016
Wow! Such exciting, enlightening information in Somatics! I Love to Learn, i'm an anatomy/Biology nerd so Thank you Lisa, i have enjoyed all your classes that Ekhart Yoga has up. i teach Hatha Yoga to a population of women, most of whom are in their sixties, and your classes have enriched my teaching and my students experiences. Pandiculation - who knew! LOVE IT!!!! Thank you for All that you share :)
Lisa20.11.2016
Hi Rosemary, You have a somatic fire lit I can see ! Welcome to a whole (and brave) new world. I am DELIGHTED the info is useful to you and your students. It has been a life-saver for many people who want to take the power back into their own hands. I look forward to 'seeing' you on line. Lisa
Francesca05.09.2016

Ann04.06.2017
Clear explanation of somatic. Thank you.
Isabel27.11.2017
Thank you Lisa, chould children do these excercises to? My son is 11 years old and his muscles are painful. Doctors don't find anything but he is high sensitive and stress realy is a problem for his body. Thank you
Lisa27.11.2017
Hi Isabel, I'm sorry to hear your son is in pain. Yes absolutely he could do somatics. Let me know how he gets on. Blessings, Lisa
Doris08.11.2017
Great explanation. I have had chronic migraines for 25 years. Now is much better but I have the intuition that Somatics will help me. Am I right? Many thanks
Lisa08.11.2017
Hi Doris, Migraines are complicated as you no doubt know and caused by many factors (diet, stress, sleep, hormonal and environmental factors, muscular tension, nervous system sensitivity, sensory overload and more) . What somatics WILL help is to ease any chronic neck, shoulder, facial, and skull tension that is contributing to the migraines. Please let me know how you get on. I would be interested to track your progress and experience. Blessings, Lisa
maria04.09.2016
Anticipating your sessions with much keeness :) Love your work.
Lisa05.09.2016
See you soon Maria !
Julia03.10.2016
Ah! This is what's wrong with my right hip! I broke my right knee and femur in a car accident as a teenager and I could never understand why that caused my right hip to go all funky. It's definitely pulled up higher than the other hip, if I'm sitting I have to shift my weight to the left because the right hip is weirdly stiff and jamming up into my abdomen. But then in other ways its looser than the left hip, but not like good-loose. Like unstable loose. Will there be any forthcoming classes teaching how to get the trauma out of a body part? I would be SO THANKFUL if there was. I've been dealing with this for sixteen years and lately it's really been driving me crazy! Thanks!
Lisa05.10.2016
I love those A-ha moments Julia ! There's a long happy hips/legs class coming up whenever Ekhart post it. It could be made for you. I think they share something new every few weeks but you could ask that office directly if you wish when it's scheduled. Let me know how you get on....
Mary04.09.2016
Thank you Lisa for a very interesting talk.
Eva05.07.2018
Thank you very much for this lesson Lisa, I'm ready to dive in !
Diane03.09.2016
Sounds exactly what I need. Look forward to you class!
Karen19.10.2016
This all makes perfect sense and ties in beautifully with Yin Yoga and other mindfulness practices. I've used a couple of your sequences with my Yin students and they have been very well received. Not only that, but I'm learning a lot about looking at my own body with more patience and care. Thank you Lisa, Somatics is new to me and I have a feeling it will be a treasure trove!
Lisa19.10.2016
Dear Karen, There are many amazing embodied modalities. Delighted that you are learning about yourself and your soma. It is indeed a treasure trove. Looking forward to sharing it with you.
Ulrika14.09.2016
Really looking forward to your classes!
andersonliz2@aolcom27.08.2018
Hello Lisa, Although I"m commenting here I've actually practiced quite a few of your somatics and recognize that they are perfectly appropriate to my current needs. Thank you very much. However, the other day I walked past a reflection of myself in a mirror and wondered who that round shouldered, bent forward person was! I've long suspected that this an area of particular need for me. Which somatics sequence would best help me address this and should I also be double-downing on upper back strengthening. What are your suggestions? again thank you, Liz
andersonliz2@aolcom29.08.2018
Lisa, thank you for your prompt reply. Please help me further understand as the classes aren't actually numbered first, second, third. So I get that "front body release" would help but then what other one or two. Lying head neck and shoulder release or muscle magic?
Eliza26.12.2023
Hello, Kirsty, there is a 404 error when I try the link for this collection. Please do you know where it can be found now? Keen to learn as much as possible about somatics!
Lisa27.08.2018
Hi Liz. Delighted that you are feeling the benefits. In somatics we would work with releasing the front body first before working directly with the back body. So classes one and two from the Somatics Series should complement one another for you as a starter practice. Let me know how you get on. Blessings, Lisa
Kirsty04.09.2018
Hi Liz, in reference to your second question, I think Lisa is referring to the following series, which has been made into a collection: https://www.ekhartyoga.com/playlists/5538/somatics-series-free-your-muscles
Genna17.06.2019
This is so interesting! I can't wait to get started. Really enjoyed your neck/shoulders relaxation 20 min video.
Ursula27.04.2018
Despite years of yoga practice I’m new to somatics and this was an excellent and concise explanation. I’ve been either not listening or just caught up in my own drive, so this promises a new way of being in the world. I am now learning to listen to gentler, more connected way. Really exciting.
Lisa10.05.2018
Hi Ursula, Do you hail from the green isle of ireland? Tha sounds like a very Irish surname. Welcome to a new somatic world. I hope you experience pleasure, fun, novelty, release and much more. Keep me posted as you dive in..........
Diana03.05.2019
Thank you Lisa - you explained it all so well.I am now very curious and will explore somatics.
