Sitali which means cool is a method of yogic breathing. It is done by sticking the tongue out and curling the sides of the tongue so air passes through the straw-like hole made by the tongue. This cooling breath is perfect for summer heat, after a heating yoga practice and for chilling a hot temper. Yoga breath exercises are powerful and transformative.

This is a wonderful practice, I wish I have discovered Sitali earlier in my life!!! It's totally my jam Thank you so much Marlene for the lovely tutorial! Question: Is there a way to combine Sitali breathing in a yoga practice - I mean while doing poses and moving? or it's meant to be for before/after/middle of practice? Thanks!

Hi Noga, i use Sitali after a heating block of vinyasa flow sequence and at the end of a heating practice and mostly in summer times when the days can be hot since Sitali is a cooling breathing pranayama. :-)
