Lovely! I'm wondering if the mudra has a name and what its symbolism is? It was an excellent addition to this restorative class. Thank you.
Irina11.01.2017
Thanks, Laura! About the mudra: it's a combination of Varuna and Ravi mudra. Combined I'm this way, the mudra aims to balance energy: it brings balance to the five elements in us and to the male & female in us all. It brings energy, promotes overall health and helps to rest & restore. x Irina
Anne05.01.2017

Erika06.01.2017
Thanks so much, deep and beautiful practice and great mudra, I have a question or enquire... why it is different for women and men? or is more about masculine energies and feminine energies? Namaste
Erika16.01.2017
Thanks Irina for the additional information to my question about the mudra, it is beautiful!
Irina11.01.2017
Hi Erika, Thanks for your kind words and your question. The mudra aims to bring balance to the female and male energies in us, which is why the mudra is slightly different for men and women. Hope this answers your question. A little bit more about the mudra: it's a combination of Varuna and Ravi mudra. Combined in this way, the mudra aims to balance energy: it brings balance to the five elements in us and to the male & female in us all. It brings energy, promotes overall health and helps to rest & restore. x Irina

I woke up this morning with a bit of a headache, so I was glad this class was the next one in the program. Perfect way to relax my brain. I feel better now. Best part was my puppy leaning into me and tucking his head in my arm pit when I was in supta baddha konasana. Relaxation and receiving love all in the same pose :) Life is good.
Irina11.01.2017
Oh my! So sweet! And very glad your headache went away. x
Vivienne21.05.2017
I have just been diagnosed with glaucoma. I've read that inversions can raise eye pressure. Are there any particular work outs you could recommend. I am about to try this one as it seems relatively inversion free.
Irina22.05.2017
Dear Vivienne, I'm sorry to hear about the glaucoma diagnosis. Because it's always hard to give personal advise without actually meeting you in person & knowing more about you, your health, your experience with yoga and without seeing the way you move / align your body, I feel it's best to discuss this question with your MD and/or experienced yoga (therapy) teacher. A very general advise for most, if not all, people with glaucoma is to skip inversions - down dog & standing forward bends included. If you follow classes where inversions are part of the practice, you can always skip that pose and do another pose instead (such as warrior poses, triangle, most restorative poses...). As always, listen to your body and modify your practice when you need or want to. Oh, and yes, this practice is inversion free indeed. Sending healing vibes your way. x
