For this Thursday's Throwback, we're back with Nichi who offers us a creative, wrist-friendly flow class. It's a beautiful practice of letting go (both physically and mentally).

Using Anjali Mudra throughout in both standing and seated asana and keeping the shoulders soft, we give up reaching and grasping and focus on acceptance, grace and the deep power of the breath. Includes Ardha Chandrasana, Parighasana and Paschimottanasana, it's a practice that will take you to a deep place of stillness and meditation.

Hi Nichi, thanks for another lovely class! Brings us straight to the centre of our being, our core! Loved it and will definitely return to this calming practice. In some of the seated poses i brought my hands in reversed prayer instead of anjali mudra. It gave me even more space to bend since i'm very flexible and found that anjali mudra stopped me from bending forward (bending, not pushing ;-) ) Love to you! X

Great idea Jutri and a nice way to open the shoulders more. Thanks for taking class. Aums

I cannot tell you how much I love this practice. It is so deep. Paradigm shifts on many levels. I will make this a weekly, if not daily practice. Namaste

I have taken this class once before, a long, long time ago and remember it as a very nice experience. It has come up now and again as I have searched for classes to take. For some reason I have turned away from it. Today, however, a bit of shoulder issue making me choose for arm-shoulder-wrist friendly classes it suddenly felt like just the thing. I can safely say that the time passing and classes practiced since last have made an impact and giving me such a different and truly wonderful experience in this practice today. This is simply a brilliant class! The peace, softness, stillness whatever we want to call it that comes from NOT reaching, grasping, grabbing, holding on to etc etc, wow. Feeling ones true nature, true self, however briefly is magical, grounding and uplifting at same time. Now I will have to remember to not start looking, searching, grasping, reaching for it :-)
Nichi22.04.2018
That's beautiful Anne.Thank you so much for your feedback and comments. Blessings to you ?

I just love it whenever I realize something new and practicing yoga lets me do that on a regular basis, in all aspects of life. For me Nichi meant ashtanga and that has not become my kind of yoga, yet …. Based on the comments following this class it still seemed like a good idea to try it, and the fact that it was not ashtanga :-) What a wonderful way to start the day. (I didn't see until I was done that this is listed as an evening class) Shutting down the grasping tendencies of the mind before they even got started. Very grounding, very peaceful and also energizing. In fact I had much the same experience as I did yesterday with MacKenzie`s “take a load off”. So from no on it is no more grasping, no more thinking this teacher is not for me, starting the day with a clean slate, so to speak. And most of all, like I have also realized over the past few months no more pushing and competing...
Nichi20.05.2015
That's wonderful to hear Anne. Letting go of grasping is so deeply peaceful isn't it. It's just then all about acceptance and presence. Very happy you joined me. Namaste

Such a rejuvenating class, thank you My shoulders are very tense, sometimes I shifted the pose of my prayer position and only touched with my fingertips, so the shoulders could stay down and back.
Nichi16.05.2015
Great adjustment Ann Marie thank you for sharing

I love your classes Nichi, they always encourage you to go further than you think is possible but with the thought there is no problem with achieving what you can. Great moves I've not come across before which is always great. Your classes always make me realise why I love yoga!

I really cannot speak the right words to let you know how wonderful this class was for me this evening. Your teaching and the flow helped me find the peace that I was searching for today. Thank you for reminding me what peace can be found when I stop reaching. I felt challenged and relaxed at the same time. Thank you!!

Hey Nichi and fellow Yogis! Wanted to share :) Take Nichi's "Shiva Flow" class one day then do her "Peace Flow" class the next day. They compliment each other in an amazing way. Thanks, as always, Nichi!!! All my love, Christine

Hi Nichi!!! Way cool class. My shoulders and upper back are open and soft. I tend to "power up" in that area because I am strong there. To let them "be" during practice today was liberating. Your lessons are amazing. All my love, Christine
Nichi18.05.2015
Wonderful Christine I'm the same its so good to get that softness. Aums

Julie16.05.2015
Waow ! I had brand new experience. Keeping hands in front of the heart helps remaining centered and gives a whole other view on asanas you suggest in this practice. I realized how much part of my practice relies on my arms... what is triangle pose without extended arms ? I loved this new exploration. It was powerful and soothing at once to find balance that way. And then I had one of my best savasana. I felt so relaxed. A blissful practice ! Thank you so much, Nichi.
Nichi16.05.2015
I love that you dear students are feeling the power of this class. It was a revelation to me when I first taught it. The energy is so different but still very powerful. Beautiful. Many aums

Cal A Bunga17.05.2015
Nichi so far after your ashtanga sessions this was very very magical to me in a way that I can't describe, some how make me feel sad for on side and the boom happiness and calm came to me, really inspirational class, one of the funny things were on this class that when we were doing the forward bending came down half way as expected, left leg half way also, but, when we did the right side my forehead came down all the way to my knee so I have to move my arms towards my shin and I love that wonderful feeling! Thanks again for this class, time to have a re run on Shivakamini Somakandarkram
Cal A Bunga19.05.2015
Ha, Julie I guess I wasn't the only one with the feeling ( thank god, at least I know that I wasn't becoming an emo kid ha ha). Nichi as a matter of fact, I did listened to some relaxing jazz music while doing this class for the second time, and I got the same deeper happiness, less sadness maybe because I knew where I was going and just let go of me, I'm glad that I returned to yoga and to get to know you and all the teachers at Ekhart yoga. ❤️
Julie18.05.2015
oh, Carlos, I felt exactly the same : sad and happy and so inspired ! but I couldn't put words on it, you did.
Nichi17.05.2015
It's deep for sure.. I know exactly what you mean Carlos. I taught a class like this yesterday with live double Bass and had a moment of pure sadness but it was so pure it was kind of beautiful. Yoga never ceases to amaze me. Try this class with soothing music.. Wow
Cal A Bunga15.05.2015

Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful class. What a great teacher you are! Just putting the video on and hear you talk in the beginning is calming in itself. Please do more classes like these (love your chandra flow too), they are so nurturing to both body and soul and work so well with the breathing, and the pace is perfect.
Nichi22.04.2018
Thanks Nina ?
