The second class in the Koshas Series - The energy body - Pranayama Kosha.

This video starts with a presentation on the energy system and the Prana Vayus, or 'inner winds' that help us understand how energy supports the function of different organs and areas of the body. By working with particular poses and sensing into sensation in the different locations of these subsets of energy, there is potential to connect with your own first hand experience of these forces within your own body. Learn how we might work to support the function of letting go by supporting Apana Vayu, and how we might revitalise by engaging with body sensing that helps us to feel Prana in the body. This practice ends with a meditation that connects you to Viyana Vayu through exploring your boundaries.

thank you for this interesting explanation and putting it to the practice. Exploring the boundaries - or the not existing boundaries - at the end of the practice, this brought me a feeling of connectedness and a light heart, special thanks for this :)
James15.10.2015
Ahhh, the light heart. A great sign that the practice has truly borne fruit! It is indeed delicious to remember our interconnectedness in this way Annemarie. Thanks for your comment. Warmest wishes to you.

Thank you, that was lovely! It really slowed down my day... Great!

Hi James, thanks a lor for this class! I felt it very helpful to focus on the different pranas separately first to feel them better. I felt also quite good for me in the relaxation to change the concentration between the left and right side of the body. I have a question: what is the difference between this middle point and the manipura chakra?
James29.09.2015
Hello Sabine, I'm glad you enjoyed this practice. I love exploring the prana vayus... So, to answer your question, it's best to think of this in terms of layers. The physical solar plexus (literally a crossing of nerves), with the layer on top (or underneath, more subtle) of Samana vayu, helping to animate the physical body and provide energy for digestive function etc, and then the next layer would be manipura chakra, where energy forms towards thoughts and feelings. It depends on what we're feeling as to what we experience, and we can experience all of them together! I hope that helps to clarify... Warmest wishes to you.

Was very much worth the time to take the space to take this class. Was an interesting and peaceful way to enrich my evening. Thank you

At the end it felt like my body and everything surrounding it was made of delicious water, boundaries dissolving - and then I thought about this, and I got away from it again! Beautiful class, thank you!
James06.11.2015
Trine, The mind divides, and our feeling sense connects us! I can relate to the experience of boundaries dissolving. This is a true experience of the energy body. That is was fleeting doesn't mater so much as having had the experience, as it marks another step toward dissolving the myth of separation. Thanks for your comment, warmest wishes to you!

This was simply lovely. I felt calmness and serenity and ease while practicing. After bridge pose a sudden sadness engulfed me, I've been feeling tender and sore on my right lower back lately, perhaps this brought up inner stuff as well, while during savasana I felt increasingly anxious, but it dissipated during pranayama and meditation. I love these practices that works on all of my Self. Thank you for the opportunity.xxx

Thank you, what a beautiful class! I especially enjoyed the calm rhythm. This is a really good series and I find myself once again thinking often other types of yoga have felt too quick-paced and too-much-effort for me. I wonder if you have might consider teaching a yoga-teacher-training? Or maybe you can recommend one? I enjoyed the iRest-training and so far the yoga-teacher-trainings haven't felt right - but this style would.
James30.09.2015
It's a timely comment, I am indeed considering running a teacher training. It will likely happen late 2016/early 2017, and will be very much focused on pace, tone and getting that delicious balance between relaxation and effort. It's in the name really - Restful Being! I'm delighted you enjoyed the class so much. Thanks, as ever, for your comments and feedback. Warmest wishes to you Sanna! Keep in touch :)
Sara03.10.2015
This was a great class. Thank you James. I really love exploring those subtle energies. It is amazing what you can feel when you pay attention.
James05.10.2015
It's true Sara, giving up thinking and concept for feeling is a delicious way to practice. Sometimes we're too set on the perfect pose and we forget to stop and listen...
Julie18.10.2015
Delicious indeed!! The feeling of going beyond my boundaries, was lovely. Like a flower unfurling, feeling connected to everything right now. A beautifully paced class, with thanks.
James19.10.2015
"Like a flower unfurling" Julie, this perfectly describes the deeper movements of asana and meditation. Thanks for your words. Warmest wishes to you.
Carmit17.10.2015
Thank you for this inspiring class. The slow pace and the sense of peace helped me become more mindful and aware. I wonder if I would have enjoyed this class in earlier stages of my practice, when I was eager to strech, strengthen and reach my boundaries in every practice. Now, anyway, it was just right for me. Looking forward to the rest of the series!
James19.10.2015
Carmit; I like your comment here. There's a strange paradox and you are right, this is more of an 'advanced' class; not because of the poses or the level of challenge but the attention needed to dive in and the level of stillness one can contain. Glad it landed well with you, see you again soon on the mat!

Thank you for all those insights which help me to feel myself in such a pleasant way. I feel blissed, through your guidance. Have a lovely day, too.
Lesley Anne04.10.2015
Thank you, James. Interesting during the pranayama on alternate sides of the body, you mentioned the eyes possibly moving along with the felt-sense. Mine were. Your words gently brought my eyes to stillness, and awareness alone explored to body, floating on the breath. My eyes seemed to slowly sink down through the eye sockets, deep into my head; a very peaceful sensation :)
James05.10.2015
Yes, I get this instruction directly from my teacher, Richard Miller. It's a helpful one, and allows for another level of surrender. It's funny you should mention the eyes sinking in to you head, this is exactly what's happening with the visual energy as we surrender looking for feeling... thanks for the feedback :) warmest wishes to you
