This powerful set focuses on the throat or Vishuddha or the throat chakra. It will physically work the thyroid, neck and shoulders creating ease and releasing tension, as well as your personal expression and communication. The throat is often called our truth centre and this practice can create a beautiful release for those who have not been able to fully express themselves.

Hi Marlene, I really love your all classes and your instruction. I have practiced them many times. I know I need them for myself. The problem that I get stuck is sitting posture. I think when we do pranayama, we need a strong, stability and comfortable posture but I have never got it. I feel compress at lower back, front of body open( I think lower ribcage) open, a little tension at neck shoulder. My head tends to lean back. I also follow your talking, adjust my position but don't fell good at all. I feel my body stiff when I adjust. Please, tell me your experience. You really inspire me. Namaste.

Hi Thuy, thank you for your comments. Are you sitting to close to the edge of your meditation pillow? In that case, maybe move a little more to the center, and if you need, place a blanket or blocks under the legs. That should help with strain in the neck, shoulders and lower back. Also, try hero pose, http://www.yogajournal.com/pose/hero-pose/ maybe with props like shown in the picture. This is for most people and easy way to maintain a strong back. Thank you very much, Marlene! I was very delighted today for being able to to this practice. It is very difficult for me to feel safe enough to express my truth, so I felt very anxious throughout the set ,especially during the mantra-movement-meditation because I felt somehow threatened. But I will try to do this set for a longer period of time to see if anything changes.

Hi Gesine, Yes sometimes our body has set up a system that is used to being that way for a long time. When you start shaking that system, it feels like a threat sometimes. Just keep going bravely and remind yourself that outdated patterns no longer serve you and it's time to 'download' a newer version for your internal 'software'. Hope this helps <3

After a bicycle ride with a lot of hills yesterday, I woke up with very tense, strained muscles in my neck and shoulders. The weekly round up newsletter was in my email, and this class was linked through a list of neck/shoulder classes. Not only did my physical strain find release, but this practice provided a lovely release of energy, leaving me feeling more grounded overall and ready to move into my work day. Thank you!

Ooohhhh! Marlene ☺️ I do love the way you teach and WHAT you teach, the lessons you offer us. I often restrict my "voice/truth" so that others feel comfortable - less so nowadays - and this practice just released a locked facet joint - that became restricted yesterday - all through the movement and expression of sound. ?❤️?❤️

This was good! I carry tension in my throat and I found that I had to work hard to keep that area relaxed during this class. No doubt this may indicate a need to practice this more! Namaste.

Thank you Marlene. I have a thyroid condition and I've been trying for some time now to heal it naturally. Sometimes I have hope, sometimes it's difficult. Actually, I've found yoga in my quest to understand what was happening in my body :) I've found and discovered a lot and am still researching. I often visualize some kind of healing blue light entering my throat area. I espacially loved the final movement forward-back-left-right. I make a commitment now to incorporate it as often as I can. "Truth is my name" is truly beautiful. I'll repeat that too. Thank you so much.

Dear Marlene, thank you for your words :) I also wanted to tell you that I appreciate the video you did on Gratitude in tough times, and your explanation on the Neutralization of the negative energy of a situation. It's been helpful to me. I've just come home after my yoga class and my intention this time was to stay with what was, just observing, no judgment. I've been thinking about me labeling something 'good' or 'bad' and it's just so exhausting. If something I normally label as 'negative' or 'bad' is there or comes up (like anger) I try now to Neutralize its negative energy and adopt something like, 'hey, you are here, I observe you, I don't judge you' The next step, I guess, will be, 'I make space for you, I allow you, I accept you' Thank you so much, a big hug to you with Gratitude!

This has been so relaxing!! I absolutely lived this practice. One thing I find confusing though is that the little finger corresponds to Mercury. According to my fantastic book on mudras by Swami Sarananda, the throat chakra is the middle finger. I looked it up and in palmistry the little finger is indeed Mercury. Still it would be great if there was any agreement between the different ideologies. :)

Vers interesting session, Marlene. Thank you so much. I will definitely be coming back to it, maybe even practice every day for a period. I suffer from cervical spondylosis located around 6th neck vertebra (but with chronic strong pains in the right shoulder and arm) and should therefore not look up/lean the head back so I did the excercises without those movement but it still worked fine and I feel a lot more freedom and warmth in the shoulder and neck area. I have also suffered from many years of not listening to myself and not being able to feel or recognize my truth, so thank you so much for sharing this practice that I believe will help me on my path to balance in this area and speak and be my truth in the world.
