The root / muladhara chakra is all about feeling safe and grounded, no matter what situation you are in. This chakra is situated at the base of your spine. We will work on the feet, legs and that what touches the floor in the asanas. Sun Salutations, Standing postures like Warrior poses/ Virabhadrasana I and II, Side Angle Pose / Utthita Parsvakonasana, Triangle pose / Utthita Trikonasana, Pyramid Pose / Parsvottanasana, Bridge pose / Sethu Bandha Sarvangasana, Supta Baddha Konasana, Supported Child pose. etc...

Hi Nikola, good to hear you enjoyed the class so much. The breath top down helps to balance the prana, upward rising energy with the apana, downward rising energy. You keep connected with the energy of prana (usually the energy activated on the inbreath) during the outbreat, because of the upward movement as you exhale, and vice versa. This way you don't go into the extremes of the 2 energies so much but you keep some of both all the time. Hope that makes sense..

I really enjoyed this class... and I didn't think that you talk too much :) I think that all of us who are practising with you enjoy yours words of wisdom :) I know that I love when you say something that clicks in me like a switch, and it's like ''yeah, she is so right..'' and than that thought resonate in me the whole day. I have just started reading the yoga sutras and could really relate to your discussions back to them during this class. I'm loving this new understanding of the true 'why' of yoga. Very nice. I particularly enjoy classes where you come into poses slowly and mindfully and hold them for a few breaths. The class does not include triangle and pyramid as stated in the description, which is too bad as triangle would have fit in nicely!

A great class. It was the first time I came across a suggestion to imagine my feet grounding beneath the surface - it automatically adjusted the position of my entire leg from foot to bottom and I felt a lot more supported. I am very happy for this discovery! It also naturally helped me to distribute the weight on my feet evenly. Thank you :).

Thank you Esther, I really enjoyed this class and am looking forward to doing the rest of the Chakra series! After the practice I could really feel my feet being warmer and I was more aware of the ground. And I particularly enjoyed what you said about problems in life often being about safety issues. I could relate to that very much. I am curious though about the &quot;top down&quot; breath from the chest to the pelvic floor. This is completely new to me; in the yoga studio I go to we often do pranayama but it's always bottom-up (breathin in the air from the pelvic floor and extending the full breath upwards until it is under the collarbones). Could you maybe elaborate on why you chose this? Thanks! Love Nikola

this is my favorite class right now, I cannot believe the difference I feel after this class, I glide when I walk, walking becomes a joy. I have not felt so light on my feet since I was a child and and I am almost 60 years young. is amazing what a difference being grounded, and practicing this class makes. highly recommend this one.

What a beautiful class, thank you so much Esther, this is one I will be doing for a while, it is so full of pearls of wisdom, and I feel so much more grounded in beautiful way after doing the class, was so helpful to build the position from the ground up, made a huge difference for me, and also the guidance of focus on experiencing the position rather than focusing on form.

WOW :). This is my second time thorough this program after a bit of an absence from my daily practice. I thought that this program was just what I needed to get my balance back as I recommit - and it didn't fail! This was amazingly grounding. I feel like a new person. I feel like I've come home! To paraphrase "don't practice from memory, practice in the present." Thank-you Ester. Looking forward to the next practice in this series.

It was a beautiful grounding class, thank you. I have two questions; when we sat squated, it really hurt the top of my feet and ancle, is this normal? Also the different way of breathing, it felt really nice, what was the reason for this? Really enjoyed the class :), Namaste Susanna
