I know… if you’re a Pitta person, the last thing you want to do is to do a relaxed, simple, easy practice. You want to challenge yourself, right? Push your boundaries? You crave a strong, physical practice? Well, it might not be such a good idea to take that road. It might just push your Pitta over the edge. So, here you go: a calming, cooling and balancing practice just for you. Not sure if you’re a Pitta person? Here are some characteristics: if you are a great planner, leader, producer or visionary, if you are intelligent, strong, passionate, competitive, if you can get irritated and angry easily - then this practice is for you. Try this practice daily or weekly for at least a month and be surprised by how balanced you feel! The other 2 classes in this Doshas series are: Get grounded: Sweet and Gentle Vata dosha class and Move! An activating and warming Kapha dosha class.

I am mostly pitta, then kapha and vata and I felt a bit angry and annoyed by this class, as you said "the last thing you want to do is to do a relaxed, simple, easy practice". Even now, after doing the whole class I still feel a bit agitated, like I have too much energy that I couldn't quite get out. Would love to hear your thoughts about that Irina. (I also meditated for about half an hour before the class)

thank you for your reply. I didn't want to do another pitta class today, but then felt encouraged by your answer, so I combined it with an energising pranayama before and did the class today again. After a similar start it went much better today, I look forward to trying out the different classes and combinations (with kapha class before..). Thank you :)

Thanks for your comment, question and for sharing your experience! Feeling angry and annoyed (especially by slow(er) classes like this one) is something that tends to happen easily for pitta's, so I can imagine it happened for you during the class as well. Sorry to hear it stuck though! It might be possible that the combination of meditating first and doing this practice afterwards was a bit too much. Maybe it suits you better to try a Kapha balancing class first (to get the energy 'out') and then this class. The Kapha class can be found here: www.ekhartyoga.com/classes/move-an-activating-and-warming-kapha-dosha-class. Also, it might be that trying a different pitta class works better for you. If you'd like to give that a try, there's another one here: www.ekhartyoga.com/classes/cooling-practice-for-pitta-dosha. This class is also beneficial for pitta's: www.ekhartyoga.com/classes/chill-out-cool-down. Also, it's so important not to fight anything that comes up. If anger comes up, don't fight it. It can actually teach you something about yourself. Most of the time, strong emotions come up when we do a certain practice that in some way confronts us or guides us to let go of patterns we've been holding on to for so long. And sometimes that feels overwhelming. If that's the case for you, allow yourself to feel what comes up, to feel the emotion in your body. Sometimes we can feel it in our stomachs, sometimes in our neck, sometimes somewhere else. Acknowledge the emotion without trying to change it, without trying to push it away. Try to see it as it is, without going into the story. It helps to have the intention to not hold onto the emotion - if you can let go of the attachment, the emotions will shift. Breathing into the irritation and anger helps to facilitate that shift. I hope this helps. xx

Glad to hear, Jill! I do have three travelers delight classes here at Ekhart that might be delicious after a long haul flight as well - just in case you're looking for another class at the moment. Either way, hope you're having a wonderful weekend! x

Such a helpful class after a go-go-go day. I could feel my body cooling, calming and relaxing into the rhythm of my breath. One thing I do struggle with is balancing internal and external temperature as I am in the Southern Hemisphere where it is currently winter. This helped fire the inner fire but I did feel a bit chilly. Is there a suggested way to manage?
Irina07.06.2017
Glad to hear you enjoyed the practice. As for your question... are you pitta dosha? If you're not sure about what dosha is dominant for you, I'd recommend taking the test (you can find one here on Ekhart Yoga). The reason I'm asking this is that it sounds like this class was a bit too cooling for you, especially in this time of the year for you. My guess is that you have more than one dominant dosha, most likely vata - but of course I'm not sure about that as it's impossible for me to determine based on the info you provided. However, if vata is high as well as pitta, I suggest practicing both the pitta and the vata class. You could go for the pitta practice on one day and the vata practice the next OR practice them both on one day (first pitta, then vata). Hope this helps. Other than that, make sure your diet suits your needs. For more info on Ayurvedic diet you can watch my videos on that subject (recipes included). x

I loved your class, thanks. Your voice is so smooth. It is groin not groins, a tip for further classes?.
sara26.05.2017
Lol- pitta alert ??
Irina27.05.2017
Thanks, dear Brinesse! Thanks for the tip as well - although I must admit I'm slightly confused... Here's why: groins -> plural of groin (https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/groin) and articles such as this one: www.yogajournal.com/poses/yoga-for-the-groins. If you'd like to shine your light on it, I'd love to hear from you! Love, Irina
