A general Yoga sequence that will help you to cultivate the necessary openness in the back of the body to move easily into Headstand. Together with opening the shoulders and upper back this will prepare you for Sirsasana, where the weight of the body will be on the forearms and elbows. This class does not include the full Sirsasana pose but it is an excellent preparation for it. In this class we will practice Half Sirsasana.

Hi Esther, There is no weight on the head in Dolphin posture as we use it as a preparation to strengthen arms and shoulders with the movement of the body forward and backwards (palms of hands are together). The second version we do is half Sirsasana - the head is on the floor but we make sure that the body weight is on the arms and elbows, so the head is only touching the floor. This is ideally what happens in the full head stand (Sirsasana) where the weight is not on the head to protect the neck. I hope this helps and I hope you enjoy practising with us here at Ekhart Yoga! I like so much this sequence to prepare into headstand! thank you Franchesca. But tell me tell me something, once you are in dolphin pose ... is there no weight at all on the head? Just on elbows and forearms?? love Esther
